Organic HONEY BEES

...from the beginning.

The word organic has distinct meaning when used to label foods, and usage is controlled by government-derived certification programs, of which there are many. To understand a product labeled organic, the consumer must understand the program that certified it. The logic then is to ask whether the tenets of that program are acceptable and if so whether compliance with respect to the product of interest has been rigorous.

Certain realities attach to organic. Superior organic food is produced by skilled hands, but craftsmanship is notoriously difficult to scale up to meet demand, and then come the pretenders...

With Mathematical Certainty

Organic is becoming big business. The bigger any endeavor, the closer it approaches average. At some level each of us understands this; it moves us to look around for local excellence.

Microbes Rule

Organic soil teems with microbes by which food gains flavor and nutrition, and becomes wholesome. If the soil is poor from bad stewardship, then so is the food, and no label can make it better. Conversely, organic food does not require a label to make it so.

Fruits and vegetables benefit directly from organic soil; farther up the food chain, animal products such as milk and honey benefit indirectly.

Organic Rain? None In The Forecast.

Organic is the belief that we should preserve that which Nature gave to us before we meddled with Her, if we can. By doing, we learn and relearn how. Always, we can reach for it.

Ends Of Roads

Where chemicals and engineered seeds are abhorred, or too expensive to pencil out and starting a tractor is something to think about; here, among the grandfather crops, the healing weeds and myriad fellow bugs, the honey bees are home.
